Of course it sounds silly to point out that the songs are major part of the show, but with all the hype and manufactured drama it's easy to forget that singing is really what it's all about. With the structure being the way it is, and contestants having to sing based on a theme each week after they get to Hollywood, the audience gets a good cross section of songs.
